Awaken '09 Mission Trip: Scotland
Updates: Wednesday & Thursday
Sorry for the lack of updates, we have had such a flurry of activity the last two days.
On Wednesday, we finished up the Kid’s Club (VBS). It was a great time with the kids and we know the LORD impacted their lives this week.
On Thursday, we took the train from Dumbarton (just outside of Glasgow, where we’re based) to Edinburgh (the capital of Scotland). There was a huge art festival going on which made the visit interesting.
Thursday evening we visited Deeper Skate church which is a “mini” youth meeting in UK’s largest indoor skate park.
Tomorrow we head back to the States!
Our flight leaves 9:00am (4:00am Pittsburgh) and we will arrive in Pittsburgh at 2:25pm.
Be blessed!

Trip Update: Tuesday
Our team had another great day in Scotland. The head of the area council came by and talked with us about West Dumbarton area and explained the social climate and his vision for its future. I found it interesting to hear how some of the challenges and strengths of where we’re staying parallel those of Pittsburgh.
VBS was even more fun than yesterday! Kenny and Mat created some awesome hand motions for our songs. You could tell that the children that came to VBS had even more fun now that they had gotten to know our students. It’s awesome to see our team building relationships with the Scottish kids.
Another highlight of the day… we had pizza for dinner! :D
If you have a student on the team, I want to let you know that these kids are doing such a great job! They all have great attitudes and are such hard workers. They’re stretching themselves, rising to the occasion and taking inititive. I’m super proud of each one of them. I’m sure, when you hear the stories you’ll be proud of them too!
In a side note, we mentioned in a previous post that the missionaries here were going through a disspute regarding unfair utility charges. The power company is threatening to shut off the power (things here are very political and a lot of games are played). The missionary assured us nothing would happen while we’re staying here, but we want to continue to pray into this situation as I believe it is an attack of the enemy and that he’s trying to distract from what God wants to do in Scotland! Remember what 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says: Our weapons are mighty to defeat the enemy!
Blessings,
Hannah
